About Me ~ Complete with Pictures!

Greetings, Bonjour, Hola and Konnichiwa!

I’m a nerd who loves learning anything from Physics to Philosophy — except for American History. Don’t slip up and call me a geek; they are two totally different things (see comic below). I’m obsessed with Cryptograms and plan on self-publishing my own Cryptogram book, since I have a killer idea for a theme; whenever I’m solving them in public and someone asks what I’m doing, I tell them that I work for the FBI and can’t talk about it; it makes me feel sorta cool, especially when they are dumb enough to believe me. My favorite comics are Calvin and Hobbes, XKCD, Dinosaur Comics, Video Game (VG) Cats and anything from the Oatmeal or Hyperbole and a Half.

(From comic: "The definitions I grew up with were that a geek is someone unusually into something (so you could have computer geeks, baseball geeks, theater geeks, etc) and nerds are (often awkward) science, math, or computer geeks. But definitions vary.")
Nerds vs. Geeks

I’m a tomboy who would rather wear jeans and purple converse instead of a dress, since dresses make me feel icky. I have a Maine Coon kitty named Ender (pictured at the bottom of the page) who is not only leash-trained, but can also play fetch. I’ve been a gamer ever since I was three and continue playing just as much to this day — as is evident by my 10-hour gaming session earlier. Final Fantasy is my favorite series, especially because I heart Moogles. I’m witty but only on accident; I get confused when people laugh at my jokes. However, once I’m comfortable around you, you’ll find that I’m way too goofy and silly. I love cats and anything Japanese. I make up songs that I sing aloud to myself whenever I’m home alone, though if I’m in a really good mood then I don’t care who might be listening. On a similar note, I rock-out in my car — but then again, who doesn’t? Battlestar Galactica and Dr. Who are the best frakkin’ television shows ever, and fezzes are cool.

Yep, that’s pretty much me, except I wear glasses.

Apparently, I’m charming, though I have no idea how; in my mind, my social interactions are awkward and I always wonder if I’m acting per social norms. I’m the female mixture of Woody Allen from “Annie Hall” and Sheldon from “The Big Bang Theory.” I miss the Oxford comma and Pluto. Gravity hates me and I injure myself in some form or fashion around twice a day. I always say that if I’m ever rushed to the ER, that they would call Social Services because of all of my bruises. I’m resourceful in a MacGyver-esque kind of way. My brother is my best friend and hero. Whenever I’m sad, singing the entire album of RENT or watching “Kittens Inspired by Kittens” cheers me up.

I am a freelance writer with experience writing for several “freelance writing” sites, as well as writing for private clients. I’ve written everything you can imagine, such as blog posts, research papers, film/game critiques, scientific articles, Philosophy papers, techy articles, product descriptions, health articles, short stories, poetry and much more.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Humans are free except when Humanity needs them.” – Ender’s Game; O.S. Card

“Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

“Be not simply good; be good for something.” – Thoreau

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” – e. e. cummings

“‘Well,’ said Pooh, ‘what I like best — ‘ and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn’t know what it was called.”– Winnie the Pooh

Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal.” – Camus

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” – Dr. Howard Thurman

This is Ender. He rocks.

    1. I wanted to cry when I read that it had been axed. It’s SO useful. What are we supposed to do about long, confusing lists??! RIP Oxford Comma.

I’m glad I found you too! I’m excited to follow your blog. Female nerds of the world… UNITE! Or something… erm… >.<
